I grow silverbeet/chard as well - I love it on pizza with lamb (I think I posted the recipe) - and I especially love the coloured stems of rainbow chard but white chard (I grow Lucullus) has a great flavour. Good to hear from you! xxCarohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11317388242574705433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983898767534428385.post-11868536072633064792016-07-28T23:38:11.729+01:002016-07-28T23:38:11.729+01:00Hi Simone, I'm always amazed at what will and...Hi Simone, I'm always amazed at what will and won't grow in different parts of the UK. It seems everyone is having problems this year thanks to the weather! How do you fare with tomatoes and potatoes - do you get more blight than us southerners, I wonder? Hopefully this spinach trial will inspire you to try again with spinach next year (or this!). You don't want to know what chemicals are lurking in bagged commercial spinach! (Especially when feeding it to kids.) I'll certainly be writing about this spinach as it grows and let you know what the taste is like as well. xxCarohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11317388242574705433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983898767534428385.post-20963044132010004712016-07-28T23:31:29.341+01:002016-07-28T23:31:29.341+01:00Thanks, Flighty. It's turned dull again this week with a bit of rain and grey skies but I think that will suit my recently sown spinach quite nicely. I'm going to be sowing successionally with these seeds so that I can beat the bolting! The allotment is coming along slowly; one or two things planted and rows of salad leaves going in. It's so lovely to have all that space! Unfortunately not so. I've tried it for the last 3 years with very limited results so didn't even try it this year. However, given my Australian roots, perhaps the NZ one is for me.... yes, not quite Oz but close enough. Look forward to hearing how it performs.
