Some fascinate me though; I've seen mustard leaves and tomato plants growing in the cracks between concrete and never watered! Some of my favourite self-seeders could be classed as weeds - foxgloves and forget-me-nots for example - but I wouldn't want a garden without them. xx Carohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11317388242574705433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983898767534428385.post-65715932633075182222020-04-11T12:12:49.188+01:002020-04-11T12:12:49.188+01:00Me too, Dina - I have several patches of nettles t...Me too, Dina - I have several patches of nettles that I'm nurturing for wildlife. But I draw the line at horsetail, it comes up from the railway line next to the flats here and can be a real nuisance, taking over everything if we don't keep on top of it. Best pulled out as soon as it pops its head above ground! xxCarohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11317388242574705433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983898767534428385.post-84446227994412779412020-04-11T12:10:54.859+01:002020-04-11T12:10:54.859+01:00I love dandelions but always snapped off the puffb...I love dandelions but always snapped off the puffball heads when I helped at the allotments. In the gardens here, I like to leave them as they look so pretty. xxCarohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11317388242574705433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983898767534428385.post-54943843964566083022020-03-29T20:41:47.876+01:002020-03-29T20:41:47.876+01:00I seem to be attracted to weeds - we had an area o...I seem to be attracted to weeds - we had an area of sweet woodruff in our old garden I wasn't allowed to bring any with me! I haven't heard that saying, but it makes me smile too. Flowers v weeds...people decided that, it's all in the eye of the beholder. I try to stick to the principle: you should identify each weed before you are allowed to pull it. You should hear me gardening: "Bittercress, bittercress, shining cransbill, chickweed, bittercress, groundsel, bittercress ..."
